Marriage Proposal Terms and Conditions

Our Proposal Packages are designed to include activities and/or accommodation around New Zealand.  Except when otherwise specified, we act only as an agent in respect of all bookings we take and/or make on your behalf.  We accept no liability in relation to any contract you enter into with any other provider outside of Romantic Gestures Ltd.  Products and services are subject to change depending on individual circumstances.

Booking Marriage Proposal packages through Romantic Gestures Ltd

When making your booking you/we will ensure that you accept and understand the following terms and conditions in order for your proposal to commence, as all members of your party will be bound by them.  You consent to the use of your information in accordance with our privacy policy and are over 18 years of age at the time of your booking.  Where activities with age restrictions apply, you declare that you and all members of your party are of the appropriate age to participate in such services.

When you make your booking you must pay the relevant deposit or make full payment as specified.  We advise you to take out your own insurance for all members of your party at the time of booking.  It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance you purchase is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs.  Please read your policy details on receipt and take them with you on your trip

Please check the details of your proposal carefully and report any incorrect or incomplete information to us immediately.  We take no responsibility for any errors in any documentation except where an error is made by us.

Booking outside of Romantic Gestures Ltd

Booking products and services outside of Romantic Gestures is not advised.  Romantic Gestures operates a planning event operation and are responsible for their own services they provide.  If a mistake is made by a third party agency, then the planning of your proposal could be compromised which may cause the services that you have paid for to be excluded from your proposal.

We accept no liability in relation to any contract you enter into with any other provider outside of Romantic Gestures Ltd.  In doing so however, we will charge you an additional $230.00 third party liaison fee and all liability will be yours.

Prices and Availability

Upon payment of the non-refundable deposit ($115.00), we will plan your proposal within 10 working days.  Once you have confirmed your proposal we will then send you an invoice for full payment.  Planning time is charged at a rate of $115.00 p/h and as a guide most proposals take 3 hours to plan.  The details of which will be included in your invoice.

When making your booking, you will ensure that the details you have given us are accurate and that the credit/debit card, Pay Pal or any other payment methods you are using is your own and there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of your booking.   If you pay for your booking by credit card a handling fee of 3.75% will be charged.  Direct Debit cards will incur a 2% charge.  This fee will not be refunded in the event of cancellation.

We reserve the right to amend advertised prices at any time and to correct errors in both advertised and confirmed prices.

Booking Instructions

We strongly advise you to follow all instructions given with your proposal package as we cannot be held liable for any costs incurred in the event that you do not follow our instructions.  Full details of your proposal are given to you once you have confirmed your package and full payment has been received.  We must advise that any delays, curtailments and breakdowns on the day of your proposal are not within our control and therefore we cannot be held liable.  We will endeavour to do our best to provide you with an alternative arrangement at the expense of the third party company responsible.


The undertaking of some of our activities may involve an element of personal risk and in this instance the service providers may require you to sign a disclaimer.  Please make sure you read their documents carefully and comply with their specific safety instructions and procedures.  Your safety is our top priority and if necessary we will coordinate requirements by either party prior to the day.  We also advise you checking with your own insurance company well in advance.


Once a date has been confirmed it may not be possible to change this date unless the service providers agree to the change.  Where a date cannot be altered by any service provider it will not be possible to issue a refund.  In the unlikely event that one of our operators needs to cancel the experience after you have booked a date, we will contact you.  We strongly recommend, that you contact us the day before you depart for your experience if we have not already made contact with you directly.  In the event of cancellation, Romantic Gestures will not be held liable for the cost of lost insurance premiums, travel expenses, pre-booked accommodation costs or any other costs incurred.  We will inform you as soon as reasonably possible if the supplier needs to make a significant change to your confirmed arrangements or to cancel them.  We will also liaise between you and the supplier in relation to any alternative arrangements offered by the supplier but we will have no further liability to you.

Covid-19 Cancellation Policy

For all bookings that are impacted due to Covid-19 level changes through either a lockdown or the inability to access the getaway due to travel restrictions, postponement dates (pending availability) will be offered in the first instance.

A full refund will not be given however:

Romantic Gestures™ Ltd will do the following:
*  Negotiate alternative dates of your booking with you and our providers.
*  Negotiate your refund options with our providers (you may receive none or a partial refund due to costs incurred or loss of earnings due to a short notice cancellation).

For any cancellation requests due to Covid-19 less than 30 days from arrival are subject to our cancellation policy above.  However, we will consider each refund request on a case by case basis.

Although not all our providers may require you to wear masks, please ensure you have one handy in case. You agree to adhere to the Covid-19 processes put in place by the relevant provider and there will be no refund offered if the provider cancels your booking due to a violation of their conditions.

We will continue to assess the situation and will provide further information as matters progress.  We strongly advise all clients to carefully review our cancellation policies and take the appropriate (travel) insurance in case the above occurs.

Data Protection

Your privacy is our highest priority as is your safety – we will never disclose your personal details to a third party under any circumstances unless we have received prior permission from you.  Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.


These terms and conditions are governed by New Zealand Law and any related disputes will be dealt with in the Small Claims Tribunal.
